  Purchased carpet June 2007 at a cost of $ 4,000.00. House was vacant (empty) at time of installation. Within a few months I started to notice "ripples" in the carpet. Over time as we vacuumed and moved furniture this became worse and worse. As carpet continued to become progressively worse and to the point where it was an embarrassment, in June 2008 I called the company and spoke with the woman who had handled our account. She sent the installers out to look at problem. One of the installers said that it was due to the way we moved furniture ( that we didn't lift the furniture) and mentioned that the day they installed it it was pouring rain and that there were other contractors in the house etc, etc....
  I informed them that we had never had carpet ripple from moving our furniture before. The installers wanted to fix an area that had rippled but I asked that they please come back and restretch the whole area as I wanted it done right. They said that they would come back and do it. They never came back! A year went by, carpet has only gotten worse over time and the rippling has spread throughout the whole house. I did call the company last month and spoke with the same woman who had handled our account. She said for $400.00 another installer could come out and fix the carpet. I feel that the job wasn't done right the first time and it's a shame this company doesn't see it that way. In the meantime the flooring is a big embarrassment and if we pay anyone to come out and fix the problem it will be Lowe's or Home Depot. I have dealt with both these companies and they stand by their work.
  So I rate Mandarin Carpets a 1 Star since I can't give them a BIG "0" on this rating site. Carpet seems good enough, installation was poor, quick and shoddy, and the customer service was absolutely abysmal, to the point it will infuriate you! Do yourself a favor and go with the big home improvement stores so that you will have absolute piece of mind knowing that if a problem arises that it will be fixed.
